Welcome to Year 4
It is going to be an exciting and busy year filled with a range of fascinating topics. Year 4 is an important year as children become increasingly independent, develop their confidence and take greater responsibility for their learning. Our curriculum is designed to promote learning and excellence for all, embedded in the values and beliefs of the Catholic faith.
All of our topics are based around an enquiry question which will be used as a stimulus for learning taking place in English, Maths, Science and all of the foundation subjects. Our enquiry questions will provide a starting point for children to explore their themes and will often lead to further questions of their own. We want children to become enthusiastic learners who are excited to find things out for themselves.
You may find that your child comes home talking about a question they have been investigating, something they have discovered or a new question they would like to answer. We encourage you to be curious alongside them!
As you know, we endeavour to ensure that all learners show respect and constantly remind learners of our School Vision and the Catholic values that underpin our every action. We as a school will continue to support you in reminding your child of these values and the importance of following our high expectations for learning and behaviour.
Times Table Rock Stars is a great tool to help, but the real test is to get children to tale the Multiplication Tables Check on Mathsframe or URBrainy (please see the links below.)
All your support is invaluable and open lines of communication is an essential part of a successful school year. Please remember to bring in journals daily, as it is an important communication tool between school and home.
In 4D and 4J, we aim to work hard with high expectations yet have an exciting and fun-filled year!
